Jaqui Frost - Education
An experienced Headteacher of 17 years in a range of varied primary schools. From January 2017 she will be a Suffolk Primary Headteachers’ Association Liaison Officer, OFSTED inspector and school improvement consultant.
Viv Gillespie - Education
Viv Gillespie, who was appointed as Principal of Suffolk New College in the autumn of 2015, has an outstanding track record in further education, having taught and managed in the sector for more than 25 years. Holding a first class honours degree in Business Studies, she was previously Principal at South Worcestershire College, where she led a fast turnaround from an ‘inadequate’ to ‘good’ Ofsted rating in under one year.
She was also Principal at City College Plymouth for 6 years, where she oversaw a multi-million pound investment in College facilities, a rapid increase in student success rates and the forging of strong links with employers at home and abroad.
At Suffolk New College, she has overseen development of new programmes and investment in STEM facilities. In 2017, the College was graded as Good by Ofsted, moving up from the previous grade of Requires Improvement.
Viv is a director on a number of boards, including University of Suffolk, Ipswich Chamber, Ipswich Central and the Association of Colleges Eastern Region. She is also a member of the Ipswich Opportunity Area Partnership Board. She has previous experience as a member of a secondary- level Academy in Plymouth, and led the setting –up of UTC Plymouth. Viv is a trained Ofsted Inspector (Post-16).
Max Harnden - Legal
Max is a partner at Gotelee solicitors, specialising in Business Law. He acts for a wide range of business clients from large companies and professional partnerships to sole traders and small family run concerns. He advises on a wide range of business issues, including mergers and acquisitions, director and shareholder relations and commercial contracts.
Bill Knowles - Community
Bill is an Ipswich Borough Councillor and Vice Chair of the Planning and Development Committee. His working career was as a manager with the East of England Co-operative Society. His roles were varied and included the setting up and establishment of several new enterprises. He is a Trustee of the locally based John Dorkin Charity, and has been a School Governor for many years, focusing in particular on Premises, Health & Safety.
David Mason - Business
Partner and Director (since incorporation) of an animal veterinary practice, which comprises of 8 surgeons over 2 sites. Responsible for inspection and continued approval of practice to meet Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons approved standard in 2007, 2010 and 2016. Designed and opened Shrubbery Veterinary.
Rod Stanley Bell - Finance
A marketing and communications professional with over 25 years management experience across a range of organisations in telecommunication, high technology and the third sector.
Alan Whittaker - Education and Business
Principal of Suffolk One in 2009, an Outstanding, inclusive Sixth Form College located in Ipswich, Suffolk which offers an extensive range of Post-16 courses including: A Levels, BTEC Diplomas, GCSEs and courses in Foundation Learning. Also a member of the Suffolk 11-19 Board, a Member of the Radewald Trust Board and an active member of a number of partnerships across the education and business sectors.
